The isothermal annealing process of die steel includes three stages
Heating and holding, quick cooling to isothermal temperature and holding for a suitable time; furnace air cooling. The selection of austenitizing temperature is not only related to die steel, but also adjusted according to technical requirements and original structure of die steel. For example, higher austenitizing temperature of stainless steel annealing furnace can form layered structure; lower austenitizing temperature is easy to get spheroidized structure. The isothermal temperature of austenitized die steel should be determined according to the final properties to be obtained. For example, the closer the isothermal temperature is to A1, the coarser the pearlite lamella is obtained (the lower the hardness of die steel); the farther the isothermal temperature is to A1, the finer the pearlite lamella is (the higher the hardness of steel).
Isothermal annealing process of die steel the process of isothermal annealing of die steel is to heat the die steel to be annealed above the critical temperature (hypoeutectoid steel to be heated above AC3, eutectoid steel and hypereutectoid steel to be heated above AC1) for a proper period of time, so as to make it austenitized and austenite homogenized. The annealing furnace manufacturer puts the die steel into another furnace whose temperature is slightly lower than AC1, or makes the die steel cool to a temperature slightly lower than AR1 in the original furnace for isothermal treatment. In the isothermal process, austenite will be transformed into pearlite or spheroidite with suitable thickness of lamella according to the isothermal temperature. When the transformation is completed, the air cooler can be removed from the annealing furnace.
